May SF home sales jump 28.7% Median price drops 1.3%

Sales rise for 4th consecutive month
Single family home sales increased again compared with the same time last year for the 4th straight month.   There were 417 detached  single-family homes sold this May, a 28.7 percent increase from 324 homes sold the same time last year.

Median Price
The median selling price for single-family homes sold this May was $177,000, a decrease of 1.3 percent compared to $179,325 in May 2011.  On a month-to-month basis, the May median selling price was up 8.6 percent from $163,000 in April 2012. 

Listings Under Agreement
For the fifth consecutive month, the listings under agreement posted a double-digit increase.  Single family listings which are under agreement jumped 13.2 percent from 500 at the end of May 2011 to 566 at the end of May 2012.
