NAR Town Hall Promotes Home Ownership

“You want stimulus?  Don’t mess with the MID!”
“You want stimulus? Don’t mess with the MID (Mortgage Interest Deduction),” said 2011 NAR President-Elect Moe Veissi during a town hall meeting in Chicago March 4.  Now is the time for members to start talking with their colleagues and clients about how much the U.S. economy is reliant on home ownership, he stressed.  Viessi shared this feeling at a REALTOR® town hall meeting during the first stop of the NAR Bus Tour, which was in Chicago March 4-5.  It is now traveling to Denver for a town hall meeting and consumer event March 18-19. Veissi encouraged REALTORS® to get the word out about how much the U.S. economy is reliant on home ownership. He asked members to share key messages, such as the fact that the housing industry frequently leads the economy out of recessions and can be an engine for job creation.
