The CIPS Designation: A Message from Ed Alford

Having  just returned from the NAR mid-year conference held in Washington D.C. May 10-15.  I’d like to make you aware of certain changes to the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation requirements and instructions. It’s now easier than ever to obtain your CIPS designation and begin working in global real estate or working locally with foreign buyers and sellers!

  • Course Changes – All courses are available online, the finance course has been replaced with a more user friendly “Global Real Estate Transaction Tools” which does not require the HP calculator and classes have been added and changed for your convenience.
  • Application Changes – From 15 pgs down to 7 pgs, you can complete it quickly and easily online (with the exception of a signed affadavit) and transaction requirements have been broadened to allow flexibility.
  • More Benefits – New CIPS logo, a new press release for your use, a flash banner, marketing postcards in a variety of languages and CIPS designees have access to a new widget application to convert language, area, time zones and currency.

I hope this post was helpful, for more information you can visit the NAR Global Business & Alliances site. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me, Ed Alford, at advancedglobalrealty@gmail.com.
